You do not have to close your lot during business hours to get it restriped. Parking lot striping can be scheduled at night, on weekends, or in phases, so customers keep parking, tenants stay open, and the paint has time to dry before traffic returns.

At Reliable Pavement Maintenance, we stripe, lay out, and maintain parking lots across Lake County and Central Florida. To start planning a schedule that fits your property, reach out to our team or call (407) 924-8228.

Why does daytime striping cost businesses money?

Because a closed or half-closed lot turns customers away. If people cannot find a space, or see cones and crews blocking the entrance, many will simply drive to the next plaza.

That risk is real in Lake County's busy retail corridors. A shopping center along US 27 in Clermont depends on steady daytime traffic. A plaza on US 441 in Leesburg or Tavares may have medical offices, restaurants, and retail sharing the same lot, each with different peak hours.

Weekends add another layer. In places like downtown Mount Dora, Saturday and Sunday can be the busiest days of the week, while an office building down the road sits empty.

Restriping still needs to happen. Faded lines, unclear stalls, and worn ADA markings create confusion and liability. The answer is not to skip it. It is to schedule the work around the hours your property actually makes money.

How do night and weekend striping schedules protect revenue?

They move the work into the hours when your lot is quietest. Customers never see a closed entrance, and your tenants do not lose a single business day.

The right window depends on the property. An office park may be best on a weekend. A retail center may be best overnight after stores close. A mixed-use building may need a different plan for each section.

A property manager once told us Sunday morning would be the best time to stripe, since most of the offices in his building would be closed. Then he had to call us back.

The restaurant owner in the building had heard about it and told him Sunday morning was his busiest time of the week. We scheduled the job around it. That is the whole point: the plan should follow your property's real traffic patterns, not a guess about when the lot looks empty.

How do paint cure times affect a striping schedule?

Paint needs time to dry before cars drive over it, or the lines get tracked, smeared, and shortened. A good schedule builds that drying time in from the start.

Striping paint generally dries much faster than sealcoat, but weather changes everything. Florida humidity, cooler nighttime temperatures, and morning dew can all slow drying. A night job may need a little more time before the lot reopens than the same job on a dry afternoon.

If the project includes sealcoating first, plan for more time. Normal curing time for sealcoat is about 24 hours in moderate temperature and humidity. That is where weekend scheduling helps most, since the lot can cure overnight and reopen when business picks back up.

Summer storms also matter. Afternoon rain in Lake County can wash out fresh work, so we plan around the forecast and leave room in the schedule if the weather turns.

How does section-by-section phasing keep a lot open?

Phasing means striping one section of the lot at a time while the rest stays open. It is often the best option for properties that never fully close.

A typical plan might stripe the back rows and outer edges first, then move closer to the storefronts during a slower window. Entrances and drive lanes stay open with clear signs and cones, so customers can always find a way in.

Clear communication makes phasing work. Tenants should know which areas will be closed, when, and for how long. Customers should see simple signs pointing them to open parking. When everyone knows the plan, the work goes smoothly and complaints stay low.

Phasing also gives you a chance to fix more than paint. We can lay out a lot from scratch, improve traffic flow, add spaces, and bring ADA stalls, access aisles, and signage up to code. Learn more about our asphalt and parking lot services.

How do you plan parking lot striping without closing your business?

Start with a walk-through of the lot and a conversation about how it is used. Tell us when each tenant opens and closes, when deliveries arrive, and which days are busiest.

From there, we can build a striping schedule that fits your property, whether that is overnight, on a weekend, or in phases spread across a few days. We will also note anything else worth handling while the crew is on site, like faded ADA markings, damaged wheel stops, or worn signs.

We are licensed, insured, and bonded, and we handle ADA work ourselves instead of handing it off. That keeps the whole job, layout, striping, and compliance, under one plan.
